What can I feed them tonight before getting them fish food in the morning?

We just bought an aquarium for our boys and five gold-fish… the tank has a light in it (full-spectrum, according to the box) and we’re wondering if we should leave the light on over-night or not.

What can I feed them tonight before getting them fish food in the morning?

I observed quite a times that small insects get attracted to my aquarium lights.Now I am just wondering whether I could turn them into tasty meal for the fishes in the aquarium.
Once I also added a small insect and my tiger barb quickly gobbled him up.Are the insects safe for feeding the fishes?

1.Tiger barbs-4
2.White mollies-2
